That sucks sack man!

You couldn't source a used axle for under 1500? I would get a new one just because of how it all broke on you... The axle tubes may have got tweaked.
Randy's Ring and pinion is a good place for gears, and some salvage yards are worth the long trip...
I had an 8.8 axle grind itself up on me and I just dropped a sterling 10.5 with 4.10s in its place. Best decision I ever made. $300 for the axle off Craigslist and $900 hundred to regear and re-shaft my IFS front on my bronco... But this thing wasn't my daily driver. I would have done an SAS but I did not have a good place to keep it torn apart for a long period of time....

At first I thought that was my truck on the flat bed(I got the same thing), then realized no, mine's int he garage

This could be a great chance to upgrade. I didn't see a spring between the spider gears and no clutches, hint hint...

All fords have a tag on the axle cover indicating ring gear size, gear ratio and type of carrier.
Cool, I'll check mine out in a couple of minutes. Thanks!
