yeah mine were rusted the same on both sides,and would not move at all.i think ford called em cable actuators.i got a pair at a local auto recycler for $15 with shoes from a 2008 with no miles on it.the rotors and pads front and rear for another $30.i dont like to use used,but this truck had only 340 kms on it, its all ford parts so what the hell.

Thanks for the pics RAF14. Made me go and look at mine. I'm good to go but very surprised that Ford is still using drums for parking brakes and discs for normal brakes. Surely it can't be cheaper manufacture. Wonder what the reason is?

This is a total stab in the dark, but I would imagine it is easier to have a totally separate system driven by cable rather than tying in a way to manually operate the hydraulic caliper. Also, it's a fail safe. If the brake system goes out, the parking brake is also your emergency brake.

Like I said, just shade tree mechanics guess.
