Default Rear driver side snapped axle

The other night I was on a icy road, hit some black ice, truck went side ways into a ditch, rear end got airborne a bit and landed on the left rear tire, and snapped my axle it looks like, any help on if I should replace the whole rear axle or just the part? Disc and brake are destroyed as well!

i would just inspect for more cracks or bends but if there are non anywhere I would just rebuild it.

I'd be half tempted to just buy a whole new rear axle assembly (with diff). They're not that expensive, and would let you replace anything else that may have been damaged that could pop up later on. Plus you're getting all new bearings and seals that way.

And by the looks of that picture, maybe some new tires.

Seriously though, if you are going to try and rebuild make sure that is not the only things that are broken/bent.

I agree, is it almost worth looking for a used one? Just check the mileage (for bearings and limited-slip clutchpack wear) and the gearing if you do.

Hopefully just the shaft snapped and the tube didn't bend. That's crazy though, at least you're ok!
