Default Was it really meant as a 2004 F150 trim???

...Then why does my door sticker have a manufacture date of 09/2002. I thought I'd post here for those of you with the 2004 Heritage Edition, in hopes of finding some answers.
OK, so I've heard and read the Heritage Edition F150 was the left over 2003 models re-badged and declared the Heritage Edition for the early 2004 model year. I thought I'd post here as maybe some of you with the 2004 Heritage Edition may know more.

But 48 hours ago, I bought a 2003 F150 4x4 Supercab Heritage Edition. It has the special two tone paint job (it was offeren in Black/Silver and Black/Burgundy - I think) and the 100th Anniversary 1903-2003 Heritage Edition Badges.

The door says it was manufactured 09/2002 as a 2003. So it would not seem the Heritage Edition was an afterthought to use up the left over 2003 models.

Does anyone know anything more on the Heritage Edition? All I know is I love the looks and drive of this truck and am happy to join the F150 family...

Far as I can remember the 2003 Heritage models were actually a special package. You know like an STX, FX4 and that kind of deal. The name Heritage was used for the 2004 model trucks that were the previous body style.

I actually still have a 2003 F-150 book from the dealership and the truck you purchased was a special truck they offered in 2003. The name was used to celebrate 100 years of F-series trucks. Too bad they decided the following year to just go ahead and use the name again for the leftovers!

I assume the use of the *heritage* name on the 04's was to help determine the difference in the parts for the new body style 150 and the *old* body style. I imagine it would have been a pain in the a$$ that year to figure out which F-150 someone needed a part for, considering there were two different styles.

..Interesting, so it appears the 2003 is the true Heritage Edition by definition. Not knocken' anyone's truck, just biased towards mine. More pics added to my album: http://www.f150forum.com/members/miles99-18371/albums/2003-f150-heritage-edition-4x4-supercab/
