Default Real MPG's vs. on board computer

I was wondering how accurate the on board mpg display was so I thought I would track it for a month or so to see.

Results:

Real computer display
16.8 17.4
16.16 17.0
15.59 16.3
17.18 17.8
14.71 15.5
14.83 15.0
12.37 13.4
14.29 14.6
17.53 18.4

Average 15.5 16.2

So the computer always gave a higher result than by doing the math by hand. Sometimes it was close but was off by 1 full mpg one time. It seems to be a good indicator of milage but not totally accurate.

Dont read anything into my mpg's it is a 07 Lariat 4x4 scab and some of the time I was towing a trailer, sometimes on the highway and sometimes stuck in stop and go traffic for hours.
