Just taken off the drivers side cam cover and the phaser has been replaced and the spring is broken so now starting on the passenger side cam cover

Recently on my 2006 FX4 5.4L, had the same type of issue. Lacking power generally, and CEL would come on under heavy acceleration. Set a #3 cyl misfire, and if I pushed it #1 misfire. Looking at the firing order, 1-3-7...., I became suspicious of the cat on the passenger side. Drilled a small hole in the pass side pipe before the cat, and put a guage in it with a hose to my windsheild(so I could view while driving). At idle seemed OK 1-3psi, higher speeds steping on it, I had a reading of over 18 psi. Put a boroscope in the hole, and the honeycomb had fallen apart piling up. Replaced both cats, and fixed. Lots of power, better fuel economy, just generally runs GREAT. Lots of power.
