With mine I was getting a rattle over small bumps and for the life of me couldn't figure it out, until one day I noticed the intake tube resting on the heat shield. I lifted it up adjusted the bracket and the rattle was gone.

I do not have a CAI on my truck. If the shock was worn would it make this sound?

No the stock intake won't rattle.
