hey Guys,
I had a similar problem. However, i guess mine went worse case scenario. The bell housing were the starter is bolted to, sheared of. That was the cause of the rattle, and the failure of the housing. The repair is expensive. So you dont go through what I just had too, check the "extended housing" were the starter is bolted too (under the car, approx just infront of the passenger seat). The housing has a "extension" for the starter gear to move into its position. Check there is no breaks in the aluminum. The repair is extensive and affects the tranny as well. Hope this helps somone out .

About how much was your worst case scenario? I have this exact same noise coming in my 2009 Supercrew. What else was the cause of the noise? Or anything else I need to investigate or look at?
Thanks
