Default Rattle above 60

This is my first post here and I hope you'll can help. I have an 08 F150 King Ranch 4WD and at speeds above 60 or so I have an annoying rattle/ slapping noise that is outside of the cab and is on the drivers side. I also had the same noise on my 04. I don't remember when it started but I did not have it when the truck was new. It is wind related because if I am driving into a strong head wind it will start sooner. I have tried to find it with no luck. I first though it was from the plastic cowl at the base of the windshield so I used some two sided tape to shim it out a little with no luck. I also put it on my lift and tried to check the plastic guards/deflectors under the truck and so far no luck.

On your cowl? the plastic that goes around your wipers, on either end there is a separate piece. on one side of mine i was missing the rubber piece (you can find them on ebay). on the drivers side i was missing the rubber piece and a section of the cowl. The vertical strips along the windshield were rattling under high speeds. rattling at the bottom. It pissed me off so much until i figured it out.

Also check the trim piece that comes down the side of the windshield, it is held on by clips that can get loose. I had a noise caused by this that sounded like it was from a much lower location. I finally found it by temporarily taping it up and the sound went away, got some new clips and it so far has remained silent

Maybe check your tailgate too. Mine was making some funky noises. I just lubed up the hinges and locks and it went away.

Thanks for all the replies. I believe I have found the problem. The end plastic windshield cowl piece was bumping against the fender. I guess I was so fixed on it hitting the windshield that I missed the obvious.
