Have them on the front of my truck, they are awesome, way better than using a leveling kit, and you don't need a spring compressor, just bolts on. They level the truck, and have a ride stiffness adjustments. I have them and Rancho RS5000's in the rear

Wait. Is it still a block you put on top of spring? What about the idea of putting it on top of a suspension lift. Let's say a 6" lift

No its not a block, its a new coil and shock, longer than the factory, I don't think it would work with a lift, they are used to level a truck

I have them in my fx4, just got from back from muddin today, they work great smooth ride and adjustable setting with Rancho shocks for daily use and up to towing. And yes just a longer shock with a longer coil over.
