I have a 2004 F150 and I'm looking for a wiring diagram for the radio. It's a 6 CD, AM/FM with 6 speaker unit. I need to know what wire is what in the 2 connectors on the back of the radio.

First of all, thank you for your help. I really do appreciate it.
Second, I did google it, but didn't come up with the site you did.
Third, that link is for a 2005. Mine is a 2004. Is it the same for both years?

I'm not trying to be a smart *** here, but I don't understand why you guys need to know why I need the diagram. It's not going to change the fact that I need it.

Here's one I just found, but it's a little different than the one Keebler posted.

2004 F150 Radio Wiring

Green/Violet: Constant 12v+
Black Green: Ground -
Pink/Black: Switched 12v+

Orange/Light Green: Left Front +
Grey/Light Blue: Left Rear +
Orange/Red: Right Rear +
White/Light Green: Right Front +
Dark Green/Orange: Right Front -
Light Blue/White: Left Front -
Tan/Yellow: Left Rear -
Brown/Pink: Right Rear -


Here's Keebler's ( I deleted the ones with an N/A)
Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Light Green/Violet
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Light Green/Yellow
Car Radio Ground Wire: Black
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Light Blue/Red

Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Orange/Light Green
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Light Blue/White
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Light Green
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Dark Green/Orange
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Gray/Light Blue
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Tan/Yellow

The ones in red are different wire colors. Is that due to the year (04 vs 05)?

I thought all the '04 to '08 wiring should all be the same... Well, what else are you trying to do besides put in the factory radio? Everything should only plug in one way... If you're going with an aftermarket stereo, you should pick up an adapter harness (walmart, bestbuy, or anywhere that sells stereos) that plugs into the factory wiring, that you crimp or solder onto the aftermarket stereo wires... but the documentation with that should tell you what all their wire colors are.

There are knowledgeable people here on this site, but we can't help much if we don't know where you're trying to do.

Ok, let me see if I can explain what I'm trying to do. I have a Lanzar STS65BT audio/video system that I picked up a while ago. I'm not sure it works, and all I have is the unit (no wiring harness). So I really don't want to spend any money on it until I'm sure it works. If I can tap into the ground and hot wires, I can at least see if it will boot up. If it does, then I can pick up the correct wiring adapters I need to hard wire it. I don't plan on cutting any of the factory wiring. I'm just going to run some wires from connector on the back the Lanzar to the radio connector in the truck.

If anybody knows a different way to do this, please let me know.

You don't NEED to plug a stereo into the car harnesses to find out if a receiver works or not. I tested an old pioneer cd player I got from a buddy just the other week. Am I understanding this right, you don't have the wires that plug into the Lanzar unit? You need to find out on your Lanzar which wires/pins are for Ground, 12V hot, and 12V ignition and connect accordingly. I used an old lawnmower battery, didn't cost me a thing.

I found the manual online, unfortunately they don't give a pin-out for the wire colors, I assume this is because most people buy the unit and it comes WITH the wires... :P
