Question Radiator Selection help

2004, 4x4 Lariat, 5.4 Radiator question

The parts store has the following radiators to choose from:

A) w/ 2 1/4" Core Depth; w/ 3/8" Inverted Flare Fittings $210
B) w/ 1" Core Depth; w/ Quick Connect Fittings $190
C) w/ 1 1/4" Core Depth; w/ Quick Connect Fittings $215

They have A) in stock and I'm going to purchase unless feedback says otherwise. Where can I find the one I need?

ALLDATADIY shows the following choices:
A) Standard Engine Cooling,Order By Description. #8L3Z8005G
B) Standard Engine Cooling,Order By Description. #8L3Z8005H

What's the difference?

You beat me to it, maybe he wants his hand held as well when going to the store or ordering it online. He asked and got a good answer with a good point of reference to save money.

My bad. I was in a hurry and did not have time to research. I read your reply as one sentence telling me to buy on-line. Since this was not an option, in my circumstance, it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Once again, sorry for the quick replay.

I now know more about radiators than I intended to learn. I did buy Option A) "w/ 2 1/4" Core Depth; w/ 3/8" Inverted Flare Fittings. However, this was not the correct one and had to be returned. The actual one I needed was C) w/ 1 1/4" Core Depth; w/ Quick Connect Fittings. The 2 1/4" Core unit had a 1-3/4" outlet but I needed a 1-1/2". I assumed they were all the same!

I looked at Rock Auto (like I often do) but they do not give specs for the radiators mentions. Unless I'm missing something I have no clue what fittings they supply or the size of the outlet hose...

To make option A) worse, it did not come with quick disconnects. Instead it came with fittings not compatible with my set up. I couldn't even reuse the old disconnects since the new radiator had a non metric connections.

Lesson learned; the quick connect fittings for the transmission coolant lines; these connections requires a special tool for Fords. Not a standard tool purchased at most chain stores.

It's different than the fuel line disconnect tool. It's just a hair thinner. Trust me, I tried all kinds of different disconnect tools, before ordering the $10 "special" piece of plastic tool that is needed.

This is the one you need.

Thought I could make one of these work, but it was a no go.
