Why even waste your time and money on a detector? I'm a cop on Long Island and I'm here to tell you that all I shoot is laser and you're not going to beat that with a detector or in court.

While that may be true. Where I live at in Fort Worth the majority of PD'S only use KA and a few still use K band. With the cross country expeditions we do its more than paid for itself in the last 3 years. Escort Passport 9500ix

Wow, those guys really need to update. I wouldn't even want to attempt to defend a radar ticket, way too many loop holes.

I've just decided to lift my foot up a little and leave a little earlier. I haven't needed a radar detector since :p hahahaha
I have heard that with the laser radar though by the time your detector picks it up you're already knabbed.
Here in Edmonton, we have so many speed on green cameras and photo radar it's almost not even worth trying to speed anymore.
On your original question though I've tied into my radio accessory line you just need to ensure you don't overdraw that circuit. I realize this is under the dash but that's where I grabbed from. I didn't use it for a radar detector though, I used it for a dash cam.

i found after pulling down my overhead console, the green with pink striped wire is a 12v constant power and the brown wire is my ground, it works great and you cant notice it from the outside looking in being as it sits up against the roof. we only use it when we travel cross country as my rig is setup more for overland use than street, but even i bow to the speed limit.......in town that is

I've actually exploited a few of the loopholes with k and ka band tickets ive received in the past, calibration dates, distance between target and vehicles in too close of a proximity.....

I travel the Southeast states quite often and most law enforcement are still running KA band according to my Escort. Download the Waze app or your phone if your running the interstate. The app shows visual sightings of cop cars by other Wazers using the app. The app was spot on about the cop locations going from MS to OH during Thanksgiving.

You got'm, especially if there are multiple vehicles in the area. Also, the smaller the vehicle the harder it is to decipher between vehicles. Radar automatically picks up the bigger vehicle 1st and then the officer has to cue in on the tones. Way too much like work, just give me a laser. Point shoot busted.
