Default quick stock exhaust question

Is the portion after the pipes connect after the cats and before the muffler 2.5 or 3"?

My kit is aluminized pipe with a "stainless" muffler put on September 2010 and the pipe seems fine from what I have inspected. But the muffler is crap and I think one of the baffels has came loose in it cause every once in a while I get no exhaust out of my passanger side pipe...plus the drone from 1500-2100 rpm makes my head wanna explode like that movie mars attacks...

Does anyone know if a flow through will offer less drone than a chambered? another option I just found is a hooker maximum flow that looks to have similar build to a magnaflow.

If anyone is interested in seeing how poor Dynomax makes their products just search for my Borla thread. I've seen Fisher Price toys last longer.

In most cases, a straight through design drones less. Less undesirable resonances with a media in the muffler. Mufflers like Corsa and Borla are both straight through and tout their drone free mufflers.

Not arguing with anyone on here, just giving you my personal experience... My dad had a magnaflow stainless cat-back on his ram hemi. The magnaflow he had was a flow through. Sure, it sounded great, but if you had to ride in that truck for more than an hour, or on the highway at cruising speed, it was obnoxious with the cab drone. I put a 3" si/so on my 5.4 with a Flowmaster 40 series and the only time I get cab drone is in the 1200-2000 rpm range. On the highway its nice and quiet. It's got a nice deep rumble at idle, and sounds great when its running through the gears. Couldn't be happier

so your rpm's are higher than 2000 rpm on the highway?

No, I'm saying i don't get any cab drone with my 40 series on the highway. I typically tach about 1600-1800 on the highway. I kinda mis-typed that, sorry its early.. You get the best sound our of the 40 series when you're running through the gears, just cruising on the highway I don't even notice it it's so quiet, which is what I wanted.
