Question in regards to tuners.
So, someone I know very well got rid of their vehicle and no longer needs their Diablo-Trinity T1000. Take it or leave it? Posting because I know there are a a lot of tuning gurus on this site. I think I know my answer though...
Thanks for any feedback~

I want to, but my concern is the Diablo. I haven't heard enough about it to feel comfortable pulling the trigger. Don't want to do more harm than good.

If it's free, go fer it. Be sure to update it first (and ensure it isn't locked to the previous truck).
If it does not meet expectations you can always sell it and put those funds toward an SCT X4.
Good luck!

Whether it is the best one or not does not matter when it is free (or very cheap) and the only one you have

Hmmm, you think basic tunes would work? Considering that I don't have a lot of aftermarket performance? Or should it be custom tuned?

As long as you don't have mods requiring tune correction - such as a CAI/WAI (which requires a MAF TF rewrite to render safe).
(No, the MAF cannot magically adjust - it's a primary sensor that relies on sampling, thus changes to the MAF venturi region WILL pekker that sampling accuracy. Anyone who tells you different hasn't got a lock on this technology, /rant )
Others would be cams, or longtubes (O2 transprt delay correction req'd if the O2's are relocated).
Lifts, regearing, larger tahrs, no problemo - you can correct fer those yeseff.
Basic canned generic tuning - still an improvement over stock. The trans strategy improvements alone will be worth it - throttle delay will be purty much gone.

Cool, thanks for the input. I do have a CAI though. I guess I'll pick it up and see where it leads. 176k, starting to feel a little tired. lol Maybe this can wake her up a bit.

1) reinstall the STOCK intake ( CAI's do nothing fer power anyway)
-OR-
2) locate a Diablo tuning dealer - local preferred - and have them write you a custom tune with a specific MAF transfer function fer the intake in question.
Diablo's website has custom dealer locator - email tuning would suffice if no one local can be found.
3) a possible third choice - the tuner may come with selected CAI-specific canned tunes - check for that ( another Q fer the dealer ).
