Default Question regarding transfer case motor replacement...

I'm changing out my transfer case motor today on my '06 FX4 SuperCrew and I noticed something different between the replacement motor electrical plug and the stock electrical plug.

After unplugging the electrical plug from the wiring harness, I noticed on the stock motor plug, there are two wires coming out of the plug that run into the transfer case, with no way to unplug them or detach them from the transfer case motor plug or from the actual transfer case / transmission... My questions:

What do these wires do?

Are the aftermarket replacement plugs redesigned that these wires don't matter?

Am I supposed to cut these wires off to get the transfer case motor off?

Thanks a lot guys! It's times like these that websites like this are lifesavers!

Default 2 Wires

I had that same question when I replaced my tcase actuator motor on my 2004.

I don't know what the wires do.

I don't recommend and have never seen any mention of cutting them.

It is not that difficult (though it is annoying) to deal with.

I don't recall the details (if you search the archives you may find them) but basically you will use a small pick to remove those 2 wires from the old electrical connector and install them into the new connection.

It takes about 10 minutes and it's not technically difficult. You will need to remember where they go in the connector.

Somewhere in the archives there is a set of pictures.

Thanks for the reply. I actually used youtube to see how to move the wires (it was an '01 Explorer transfer case motor, but still the same idea as to how to change the wires to the new plug). I feel like a 'tard now, haha. All done, and 4x4 working perfect. Just in time for the snow tomorrow
