Question for anyone with HID's

Why you think they can't write you an improper equipment ticket?
NTM: If you are get three tickets of the same violation in 18 months (varies state to state), it gets written as a misdemenour.
Not trying to sound like a dick, I did it in my wife's Mazda6 but I am not satisfied with the result and it runs a factory projector light (albiet halogen) so it is alot more concentrated light pattern than a stock reflector type housing to start with.

This is what I mean... Inside those squares (mainly the center one) is the glare that everyone refers to. Now bear in mind that these are installed on a factory projector lamp, not a reflector like we have in our trucks. This is what gets cast inside oncoming people's car windows. To say that they should stop driving (even though I'm sure you are being sarcastic) is kinda ********ish... Maybe instead of them stopping driving, people should properly outfit their cars with real equipment.
I am working on a set of F-150 headlights mated with Volvo XC90 tilting Bi-Xenons for my truck and a set of Mazda6 headlights mated with Infiniti FX35/FX45 projectors for my wife's car.
This is the pic of my wife's current set up. 6000k HID inside stock halogen projectors.

Not really, that would just ruin the reason for adding HID's in the first place... added light output. The glare would still be there just masked. The minor stuff would probably fade away but the major glare (like in the center of the photo, I consider that major but having her behind my truck yeilds no problems in my rearview) would still show up. NTM: That is also illegal. More so than having HID's.

I talked to my uncle on this one; he's a highway patrolman in the state of Florida. He said you can be ticketed for violating a vehicle equipment law in any state, regardless of where the vehicle is registered or holds it's inspection sticker. Each state has their laws on vehicle equipment, and if your vehicle is driven in that state, you are required to obey their state laws. Problem is, the local police usually do not have time to stop you for these types of violations.
Let's hope you don't get pulled over. Your attitude about the law won't help you. I'm also not trying to be an instigater, but was interested in your statement about thinking you were exempt from North Carolina vehicle laws.

Thats strange. When i got my windows tinted, they told me NC cops couldnt write me a ticket for it. i wanted to double check on that so i asked a cop myself. he said they cant do anything cuz some states have different inspection laws and some states have different emmisions laws. some states do theyre emmisions by county. theres no way for a cop to know every states and every counties laws

Right... That is for tint. Some states have no tint laws. HID kits however are universally illegal. Just like having tinted covers over the headlights at night. During the day it is legal in most places but never legal at night anywhere. Just think of it like this... If it effects either your vision or people's vision around you in any way shape or form, chances are high that it is illegal everywhere.
