A Question about towing
I just bout a rhino 700 & it weighs 1200 pound and another 800 for the trailer. My question is if I'm pulling it at around 65 to 70 mph can I keep the truck in overdrive. I just don't want to take a chance and be lugging the trans a burn it up. I would think 2000 pound or so of towing on flat ground at that speed would be fine and not be heating the trans or over working it. But just thought get some opinions. Thanks

Ive towed a car on a dual axle trailer in OD. I only took it out of OD when going up hills on the highway. Otherwise I set the cruise control and it was fine.
My truck had well over 120k at the time and had no issues with towing.

I agree overdrive is just a fancy name for forth gear. It's like saying should I tow in third? If you can maintain 1800-2000 rpm use the gear if not down shift and go slower. The only issue with over drive on this trans is it's applied with a band instead of a clutch so backing off the throttle at the time of the shift can save friction material. When the gear is fully engaged there is no slippage, the constant shifting is what creates heat and wear.
