Question about SCT tuner
A buddy of mine has an older SCT 9100 that he used on his 2001 Lightning. He got rid of the truck and said I could have the tuner. Will this tuner work if i purchase the tunefiles and have the tuner unlocked? I was looking at getting an xcal 2 but I have no need for data logging or anything like that and if it will work it will save me alot of money. Thanks!

Did your buddy return his truck back to stock with the 9100? If not then you can't use it. If he did return it to stock and your truck is a pre-2004 then you can use it, but I believe it has to be set up for your PCM before doing so. You could probably just order a new one with 3 custom tunes from Troyer for just about the same price. Personally I would just hold out and get the Xcal II and Troyer custom tunes. Plus by going with the Xcal II and Troyer custom tunes you won't have to worry about making any user adjustments, Mike's custom tunes are 99.9% spot on right out of the box. You won't be disappointed.

The older OBD2 EECs dont have some user end adjustability built into the handheld and dont have tire and gear specs available in Xtreme Tune....also the '01 EEC is competely different than the Silver Oak processor in the 04+ trucks.

He is installing it on an 07 F150 so he has all the end user adjustability... I want to say I gained 18 hp and 21 tq. I don't really notice a diffrence in my mileage though I am pretty hard on the truck.
