Model wise would be the regular cab, 4x2, with the smallest engine Ford puts in it.

Page 17.

Lowest GCWR is the Reg Cab/6.5 bed 2wd with V6 and Manual Transmission. 7,200 lbs.
That's truck curb weight and trailer/payload total.

I just saw that it's a 2004 with the 5.4 and 4x4. Any other details on the cab/bed size?
Here's the 2004 Towing Guide. Check Page 15
https://www.fleet.ford.com/resources...s/2004_All.pdf

All 5.4s are over 7,000lbs. A couple 4.6s are just under that limit.

fwiw, my 2007 is just over 6700lbs with a tank of fuel and nothing else

How's that?!? If you need more towing capacity, you buy a bigger truck.

Not everyone needs to tow large trailers around; some buy a simple truck to take them to the hardware store, or to a nursery for the ocasional purchase of shrubs and some lumber.

Ok, your GCWR is either 14,000 or 15,000 depending on gears. I would guess 3.73s with the Fx4 package, which would be the higher one. Gives you a 9300lb tow rating

Cause I don't need that high of a rating. I don't haul stuff. I drive it in the winter. And it makes the registration more expensive.
