There are a lot of people these days making custom retrofit lights. Lots of people use morimoto projectors but I don't know a ton about them or what makes them better than any others

Retrofit for sure. You could get a really decent morimoto h1 complete kit for less than 300.. And they are so damn easy to do if you know your way around a Dremel and a few other small tools, the mini h1s have a larger size but on the back and u may just have to do small cutting. Biggest pain is separating the housings.

I have evo x-rs and g37 shrouds, 50w ballasts from the retrofit source.
The output is nothing short of incredible. Please do it the proper way through retrofitting, especially if you plan on running hids or anything like this. I cannot stand the hid in factory housing glare from an oncoming vehicle lol
