Thanks, I've narrowed it down to Superchip or Hypertech I think..I know I won't see a HUGE jump in mpg's, I just want to get the most out of every tank, plus I just want firmer shifts and a little more torque and throttle response to help turn the bigger tires. I like the ones that have an "economy" tune on them because I have to drive from North Carolina to Pennsylvania several times a year for work/family so it'd be nice to be able to set it to economy to get as many miles outta a tank as possible when on a long road trip

Blakemcphail, were you running your superchip with your 33" tires when you noticed 1-2 mpg gain? How was the power with your 4.6 and the 33's with the 87 octane tune, noticable? What kind of driving do you do? are you a pretty aggressive driver?

SCT does make an economy tuner. No canned tunes. 2 to 3 mpg. More than I would expect. But only time will tell. I don't know why a sct x3 can't hold an economy custom tune and get the same results. A little research maybe?

Yeah I researched the SCT's and emailed their tech support asking if you could have a custom "economy" tune added to the X3 programmer since it can hold custom tunes, we'll see what they say..I just like the options of having both performance and economy based on what you're doing..

I have an SCT tuner with custom tunes from vmp. The only problem I have with it is ever since I got it when I accelerate hard the truck shifts ridiculously hard in low gears. So hard that it squeals the fan belt and it feels like my tranny is going to fall out. I talked to Justin about it but he seemed to think it wasn't related to the tuner. I replaced the belt and tensioner but it still does it. Then I put it back to stock tune and it went away so clearly it's the custom tune thats the problem. He told me to adjust the shift pressure on the tune however I'm scared to tinker with the settings for fear of messing something up. I've just settled on not being able to accelerate hard because I don't want to hurt my truck and trying to deal with Justin through email is painful. He rarely replies to my messages.

Mitsumotors, that sucks, I'm sorry to hear that..I think I'm leaning away from SCT and I really don't plan on running any custom tunes anyway. The canned tunes should be more than sufficient for all I use my truck for. My biggest reason for the tune is more power to help turn the bigger tires and increased highway mpg for road trips

Mit......Call vmp up and ask for him! If it doesn't do it at the stock level, the tune should be changed!

I know a lot of people like the Edge Evo, and so do I, but I don't necessarily need everything that comes with the Edge. I don't hear many people running a superchip or hypertech..anyone running either of these and do you like them?

You definitely shouldn't rule out the edge. I had one on my 05 4x4 with 35s and stock gearing and it helped A LOT. Firms up your shift points and gave me a 1-2 mpg bump. I'd HIGHLY recommend it!

I have an 2008 screw stx with the 4.6 and the gotts mod. I was getting 14 mpgs flat. I bought the edge evo aand now it has more power and I get 15.5mpgs if I'm easy I get 16.5mpgs. As for all tte extras you don't have to use them but once you play with it a little you may change your mind. I love the edge. I use power level 2.
