Default problem found...cam problem

so my truck started running real rough the other day, '06 with 43000 miles. took it in and guess the thing that speeds up the cam from the motor speed to make more power was retarding the cam instead of speeding it up, making it lag and not fire appropriately. This and the passenger manifold leaking 2 months ago, I hope this is it for a while!!

well i pick it up tomarrow, so will find out the specific name, but they said its what speeds the cam up from the crank shaft. they don't run a chain striaght off the crank, it has something that actually speeds the cam up to give more power, and something was making it lag and actually restricting the cam and slowing it up on one side, making it run like ****.

Ill update tomarrrow.
