Sorry to poke the Seafoam band wagon. If you use it with success, good for you. Just know that there are better compounds out there for the purpose of carbon softening/deposit elimination. We did a lot of studies on additives when I worked for an automotive research facility years ago. Here's another post I wrote about the chemical makeup of Seafoam and why it isn't a primary product to use. If there are contradictory studies why this isn't the case I'd be glad to hear it, but anecdotal evidence is to be taken with a grain of salt.

Redline is also a very good product. IIRC it's about 50% PEA in the formulation.

Thats all you are going to get is opinions, and you know what they say about opinions.
Otto gave you good advice with the use of a fuel system cleaner that contains PEA.

If you are really worried about carbon build up it may be worth the $150 or so and take the truck to Ford for a motorvac service.

Kev: Yes otto did give me awesome advice and I totally respect his opinion and will be adding the PEA products to the fuel tank...

s vares: I will look tonight... I'm curious what do the brown coil boots have to do with anything... Pardon my ignorance on this matter...

Brown boots would indicate the revised plug design which doesn't break. If it's a black boot you run the risk of breaking the plugs. Either way, running a fsc on an unknown condition vehicle is a good idea.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought brown boot meant revised head design, still the same plugs.

Oh, no problem. The brown coil boots indicate that the truck has the revised plug.
parts store will ask you boot color when you order parts for an 08. Half have the new ones half dont

Kev, they redesigned the heads with the brown boot design you're right. They also use a different plug design than the old heads too. SP 509 in the revised heads where SP 515 is used in the old ones.

Gotcha. I have a 04 so I never paid to much attention to the differences.
