Power Window (cable) issue
Hey all,
I have a 2005 F150, with power windows. I've looked and found the track and switch issues, but I pulled my panel off and neither was the issue, I noticed the cable was not rolling around the window motor.
I can't find anything on this, but I'm in a pickle and need to at least get this window to stay up and solid for 950 miles this coming weekend. We are moving to TX from Cincinnati OH this weekend and I don't need to roll the window down, but can't see a way to make it stay up. Any ideas?
When i get to TX, I can get it in the shop and get it fixed, but I haven't found anyone who can help me before then.
If anyone has seen this issue before, I'm open to trying to fix it myself, but the cable seems to be stuck between the bracket for the pulley that winds the cable and the pulley itself. I've tried to unwedge it without pulling the motor out (looks like the track has to come out as well), but no luck. I know it will need to be fixed permantently either way as the cable is pretty frayed now as it is, but I need a fix to get me through this move.
Thanks in advance.

Found a work around until I get get someone to fix it in TX next week.
2 - 3" eye bolts, 4 - washers, and 4 Nuts. Pushed the window up as far as it would go and use the eye of the bolt under each of the brackets the window sits in so it's not touching the glass, it may whistle a bit, but I won't know for sure until tomorrow. Good thing I have the window visors in case I run into any rain.
Hopefully it gets me through until we get settled and I can get it in.

All you gotta do is find a little cardboard and fold it and stick between window and seal on the side. It will stay up. My driver window cable is broke and using the rigging till my new regulator comes in. No need for bolts or junk.

We carry window regulators for these trucks. Here's a link to them on our site.

This is a common problem on these trucks. You need a new window regulator as Tony listed above. Takes about 30 minutes to change. I used a block of wood c-clamped inside the door to keep the window up until I could replace the regulator.

So I have to take the whole track and wires and everything out to fix this? I was perplexed when I saw it to say the least. I thught all of the issue were track related, but yes my cable just fell outside of the pulley that winds and unwinds it.
Thanks for the link Tony, I'll be looking you up once I get the TX.
I didn't have anything other than the eye bolts available and needed to get the window up lst night so I could drive to work in this monsoon weather we have been having here in Ohio.
Thanks all for the comments.
