Well, I used this to fix my sunroof switch and drivers side door lock/unlock switch. The resistor had broken free at one end on both switches. Easy fix, took less than an hour from pulling the pod to buttoning it all back up.

I managed to get the mirror adjust switch apart and did not see any LED's. A buddy of mine has an 06 FX4 and confirmed his mirror adjust is not lit either.

Thanks for checking that effects4. I didn't get a chance to look yesterday. So the mirror adjust and the window lockout are the two that don't light.

I let my board stay powered by my 12 volt test setup for about 30 minutes and the resistor gets reasonably hot... I think with the factory soldering that's where the issue originally lies. Anyways, I figure I'd rather fix it than replace it to have it occur again haha.

I know the light is a small thing but it sure is nice having it back isn't it ?

Also, don't sweat it if you have the polarity backwards during testing, they're LEDs, they just won't light if it's backwards. The third pin on the drivers door lock/unlock switch is dead (although it's +12V on the ford wiring). Here's some pictures: Basically in ALL cases of my switches, that resistor has come loose. You'll find sometimes if you hit the switch it'll light up... this is why...
Did you ever try changing the LEDs to a different color while you had one apart? I just changed out all my switches, and a lot of my old ones are just fine apart from being pretty old. I am starting to mess with the LEDs on the boards inside of them, have you done anything with them yet?

I didn't, but I did think about it now . I'd like a blue or similar so don't be surprised if I do that next haha.

I think the hardest part would be finding them (although digikey or someone should have them). Switching them shouldn't be too hard other than they're small.

Yeah, I'm not real sure what they might be sized as. They are definitely smaller than 1.8mm. I'll update if I find them somewhere. I'm thinking something in red to match the gauge cluster.....

Yea, I'm bring this thread back. I didn't want to hijack Gsanti61's thread.
Awesome write up Homer! The other day I was looking at the buttons wondering why the lock/unlock didn't have lights. Part of the fun of buying a used truck is finding the little things that the previous owner didn't care about. At least he took care of it mechanically!

haha no worries! Years ago I read in the book that the lights would go on and off depending on the switch... I tried it, thought it was cool... within a few weeks they started to coincidentally go out haha. Then being picky, I decided to look into them. I am considering trying different color LED's though in the near future.

I know this is a tread that has been dug up and all but... As soon as you figure out what those leds are and where I can get them post it up! The red leds will be a mod I will be doing in the future.

I agree! I want to switch mine away from the green to a blue. I should be ordering some very soon, I'll post my update on how it looks.
