Unhappy power steering question

Could a bad power steering pump drag the engine down at idle?

My pump is in terrible shape and barely works at idle. I'll be getting it replaced very soon.

Anyway, after I'm parking or driving downtown at slow speeds, the engine sometimes drops to a very rough, slow, rattley idle. It almost sounds like trying to take off in second gear. I give it a shot of gas and it comes back up and idles fine. I just had both cam phasers done.

07 Screw, 5.4. 120,000 kms.

Yes. It's seems to be getting worse too.

Any accessory that runs off of the engine can "drag" down on it's idle...they spin via the surpinteen (spelling?) belt, so if it has a bad bearing, or internal drag, I'd say yes that it can cause idle issues.

Don't wait too much longer to replace; it could cause the belt to break, stranding you along a road somewhere you may not want to be.
