Thanks! And yeah that's my fear. I've debated cutting it off and replacing the line but it's like $60-$70 so that's an absolute last resort.

Well I got the old line off, new pump installed, then destroyed the new Teflon ring in the process of trying to get the old line (that got bent) reinstalled. So I bought a new line from Napa ($88...) and got that installed. The truck is back together and everything was going great last night. Well today things got bad again. At low RPM I've got no power steering... Could it be the pressure sensor messing up? I'm sure it's not the rack and pinion and it can't be the steering shaft because it wouldn't get better at higher RPMs. It's got the proper amount of Dex/Merc fluid from Valvoline as well. I bled it off last night so I don't think it's an air in the lines issue either.

Are you getting any groaning or whining sounds when turning the wheel? Or can you hear it make any sound when turning the wheel?

It's groaning and whining when at low RPMs but if I get it to about 800 it stops and turns smooth.

Then it probably still needs to be bled.. Just cut the wheel back and forth, lock to lock a bunch of times (like 20X) and see if it gets better.. You should see the level in the reservoir drop some if it still needed to be bled..

I'll try that tomorrow afternoon. It's weird it seems like it would bleed out as I drove but maybe not. Should I leave the cap on the reservoir or take it off when I am bleeding the system?

Something isn't right. I recently replaced both ps lines on my 06 and never had any noise and didn't do anything special. Just topped off the reservoir, no bleeding was needed.

That shouldn't matter..

Yeah, hopefully you don't have a blockage or a pinched line somewhere..

I just swapped in a new pump with my new engine install and did not have any trouble either... I didn't have much groaning, maybe 2-3 seconds of running and she quieted right down.

I didn't think it would. It can't be pinched because it's got all the factory mounts on the lines still. I'm not sure how I could've gotten a blockage either.

When you did your new pump did you go with Motorcraft or a reman? I did a Napa reman.
