Power Steering fluid dirty
Is it easy to change out the power streeing fluid? When I was getting the oil changed yesterday the dealership called to say my steering fluid is dirty and they suggest changing it out. At $100 I figure I should do it myself and save the money for the Tranny Flush I need to do soon. I'm at 76,000KM and haven't flushed yet so that's more important to get done. Anyway has anyone done a power steering flush/change? how is it performed?

You can flush it out by sucking the fluid out with a turkey baster. However I would bet your fluid is just fine and they were just trying to extract more $$$ from you.

they might have been but I guess I should just open the damn thing up and take a look at it. How do you tell if its dirty? Is it like your regular oil where it just gets darker and darker and looks rough? I'll go look at it and see what it looks like right now.

Good idea given to me is every oil change use the turkey basted to drain the power steering reservoir. I use Mobil 1 ATF of MaxLife ATF for my power steering fluid. Good stuff!
