Default power source engine on the way!

Just sharing my update to all, after my 5.4 burned up the left head I was searching for a used one with no luck. So today I ordered my reman from power source engines, should be here Thursday or Friday hopefully will have her up and running this weekend. Will keep all updated on progress and hope all is well for everyone else. On a side note, break in period: any tips, special oils? I want to get a livewire with 5 star tunes, tune right away or run stock to break in new motor and tune after? Any advice would be great thank you.

GREAT choice on motor just got mine in and running yesterday started early Saturday morning worked until midnight same thing Sunday . I took my time and made sure everything was done before I set her in . Let me tell you I don't ever want to do it again sometimes it can be a pita but just stay calm and it should work out. Biggest thing is make sure you either buy a new intake or clean the other one out good. I took mine into the bathroom and gave it a nice bath wife kind of looked at me weird. For tuner leave it off for a while I have the gryphon and I turned it to stock mode right now to much money and time invested. As for oil DO NOT use synthetic until after 5000 mIles if that is what u r going to do. I'm just running 5w 20 vavoline and motorcraft filter and going to change it after 500 miles. If you need any advice or tips and tricks pm me and I can help you through it I also have a short video I took when I first started it. But good luck and just have patience cause it can and will be rewarding in the end. Oh and I just added all my receipts up today and I came to a grand total of $4430.00

Thanks for the advice! I already have my old motor out just waiting for the new one to come in and few other things I ordered like water pump oil tube ect. I think I'll just run motorcraft 5w20 and motorcraft filter and do the 500 miles and then stick with that.

I put a new motor in this past December too.. Replaced everything while I had the chance, and opted for stainless short tube headers as well..
Here's how I did it...
Change the oil at (miles)
200 5w-20 syn blend
500 5w-20 syn blend
1000 5w-20 penz plat
2000 5w-20 penz plat
4000 5w-20 penz plat
Then every 3-5k miles after that..
I did it this way and now my oil takes over 2k miles before it even remotely starts to look dirty..
5w-20 for break in right up to 4000, then run whatever synthetic oil you want.. 5w-20 or 5w-30 given your respective climate or season.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but especial, shoot me a message. Your inbox is full. Had a question on the heat exchanger we spoke about.
