Default Which power lead to use for halo to make them DRL?

Hello,

I am replacing my stock headlights in my 2006 F150 with some spyder ccfl halo lights. I would like my halos to function like DRL (which my truck doesn't have). Is there an easy way to make them into DRL by connecting their power lead to something that is already under the hood that is on with switched ignition? Best case scenario would be to get actual DRL working so that the halos and low-voltage headlamps/parking lights are on when the truck is on, but that sounds like a tall order. I don't know much of anything about whats under the hood, but am confident in my splicing/soldering ability if someone can just tell me which wires to use? Thanks!

If I were you, I would just run a wire from your fuse box into the engine bay, get a add a fuse from the auto parts store. Plug it into the ignition fuse and wire it into the halos, they will come on whenever the truck is turned on.

I'd just add a universal DRL module. That would be the easiest way in my opinion.

Ok, but guessing that the accessory fuse wire wouldn't be enough to reliable power up my CCFL everytime? Would I need to relay it and use direct 12V from battery? Also if I went the universal DRL method, any suggestions to a good one? just worried that the ones that work by vibration would fail eventually and leave my lights on all night and drain the battery.

DRL module:

BTW - I'd be most worried aboot the reliability and longevity of the CCFL halos themselves. The ones Spyder uses are junk. Expect them to fail in short order and also expect no help from them when they do. They've won the prestigious 'Worst CS' Award 10 years straight

FWIW - the Spyders themselves will fog, leak and craze over time as well - they are very poor headlights with respect to output as well, and a poor investment. Simple research will corroborate this.

Don't shoot the messenger, aight?

Well I haven't bought them yet. What do you suggest as a good reliable headlamp replacement with halo?

Good and reliable with halo? Not possible from any aftermarket that I've seen. The right way is not cheap or easy but its reliable and there's a sticky thread right at the top of this forum. https://www.f150forum.com/f4/2004-20...it-how-333339/
