Magnets won't usually stick to aluminum or most cheap alloys. So it is a simple test to see if it is steel tubing

Aluminum, some alloys, and stainless steel are non-ferrous. If it doesn't stick, pray it's stainless steel, I'm sure it's not aluminum

The original point I was making is people should not think that because an individual product is priced high, and it may not have cost much to manufacture, that there is not a legitimate reason for them to be priced the way they are. If a product is prices way cheaper than everything else, chances are there IS a reason
The OP is eating the test cost... Let him do the test.

No one said don't do it. I said, when there is a higher priced product, usually there is a reason for the price difference. There is much more associated with the price of the product than just the manufacturing cost of that 1 particular part that you have in your hand. Thanks for your concern but no one was trying to dissuade a person from putting a cheap part on their truck in an effort to test and see how long it takes to have a problem

The glass is half full

Let's hope there is no issues and we can all happily upgrade our trucks without downgrading our bank accounts.
