Default popping noise under dash and fuel gauge going up and down

Looking to see if anyone else has had this problem. I have a 2008 f150 with the 5.4, noticed when stopped a popping noise under my dash and at the same time my fuel gauge went down. The digital readout said 185 miles to empty and fuel gauge read just under half. Shut the truck off and let it sit a few minutes, started it and fuel gauge read 3/4, digital readout said 305 miles to empty and still had the popping noise under the dash. Anyone have any ideas?

Looks like its the fuel sending unit. Luckily the warranty covers the replacement.
