So, if you use some ebay housings, you're under $200 all in for this setup. If you already have good headlights, it's about $120. Don't forget the butyl glue.

DUH on the bulbs vs. ballasts... makes total sense.
Sure thing. When I get to that point I'll post precut pictures and intermediate pictures. Paint and such is driving my cost up. I'm around $250 now if I'm thinking right. I'm getting some butyl glue from a friend that has a lot left over. No worries on the ballast question! We all have that moment. It took me until I got them in to be okay with the setup.

Kensun has great reviews, but have you looked at the Clearview brand on Amazon?
H1 is a single beam, but it's a bi-xenon projector so you still have high beams. Nope I did not. I picked one with decent reviews that was cheap. I debated going back to vvme but I didn't feel like waiting 2 weeks. They've got a good product.

UPDATE 3/2-3: Got access to a shop tonight so I was able to sand and prime everything. Once I saw everything primed I couldn't wait to get color down so I build my little paint booth in my bathroom. I got everything sprayed and went ahead and removed the masking tape I used to tape off the shrouds. When I did this the masking tape peeled some of the paint up, but also it left a TON of adhesive on the shrouds. I've never seen masking tape do that unless it gets hot. I'm assuming it reacted with the paint. I'm hoping that I can get the adhesive off in the morning, and I'm going to attempt to touch up the paint with my touchup pen/brush. Now for the pics.

Subscribed. I actually have the same build going on. What's your plan to make the projector sit further in the bowl?

I'm going to cut out some of the bowl to allow the projector to fully seat.

Yup! I'm a little impatient so I improvise ways to still be able to work. Had a decent setback though.

UPDATE 3/3: So when I went to clean the adhesive off today it was coming off with light pressure and dish soap and water. I thought all was well until I noticed the chrome was coming off. Looks like I'll be sanding the whole shroud and starting over. I'm now going to just paint the entire shroud. Other than that all my paint looks excellent today and I'm hoping to get some clear on it tonight after class. Also, my paint booth didn't contain the paint particles well so there's a coat of blue dust covering most of my bathroom today. I don't advise copying my design... Haha. One more note, I was wearing a paint odor respirator and safety glasses. If you paint inside make sure you wear the proper safety equipment.

Laid everything together to see if the adhesive would hide. It didn't. The reflection in the bowl magnified all the imperfections.Name: 23E979B6-B89F-44FD-8547-51B8FE5831FC_zpsdkfpbz9k.jpg

Later tonight I will have the shrouds sanded, and hopefully some clear on the housings and side reflector. I also think I will be ordering a decal for the side reflector that is an outline of "FX4" in a dark blue. Good idea, or bad?

I like the FX4 idea. Now go get some painters tape and throw that masking tape away!

Sad part is I have blue, and green painters tape... The blue pulled the chrome off an old fog light housing so I was nervous to use it on the shrouds. I've got a guy that's gonna cut the sticker tomorrow. I'll get clear on the reflectors this weekend. I got the headlight housings cleared today and they're beautiful.

My paint woes... I believe it's due to too much humidity and there's nothing I can do but wait. Coat 2 looked better so I'm going to do a third coat and see if it keeps improving.

Found a guy that is doing my stickers for me. I should get them tomorrow. This is the design I'm going with, minus the Off-Road portion. Asked for 4"x 2.5" I'm getting two, hopefully in a dark blue. It's a local college student that thinks he has dark blue in stock. If he doesn't I'll go with white most likely. Name: FX4%20Sticker_zpswrn5asfj.jpg

So this may be a dumb question but, how much harder are these projectors to aim than the morimoto mh1? Do they aim the same way?
