Default plugs and coil packs

I have a 2007 f150 with the 5.4L V8.. bought it 3 years ago, now has 284k miles on it.. never had plugs changed to my knowledge.. always been hesitant to do it because of the problems people have with breaking plugs off when taking them out. But, I know it shouldn't be put off anymore so I'm gonna bite the bullet and give it a shot and try and replace them without breaking any, and also going to replace all 8 coil packs while I'm at it.. any advice and steps to take to prevent breaking any off?

There area couple of threads here with some great info on this. Do a search and you can find them. Think one is even a sticky.

Make sure to have the Lisle extraction tool. It will allow you to remove any broken plugs. Hate to say it, but if your truck does have 284K on the original plugs, you're likely gonna break some.

I don't know about the previous owners, but I know I haven't changed them. I figure I will end up breaking at least one though, that's just my luck.. however I've heard that the 2 valve is the one to really be a problem with that, and not so much on the 3 valve like mine.. but I don't think I'll get lucky with it

Huh? The 2v plugs do not break. The 3v plugs do break due to the 2 piece design.

3v's break plugs until September 2007 engine build date. The 2v's will blow out the plugs if they aren't torqued to 28 ft lb

Yeah chances are you are going to break some. I would just really do my homework and read the write ups on here and have a lisle tool on hand when you start. Just take your time and it's not that bad even when they break.
And it's defiantly the 3 valves that break.

Yeah I've done a lot of reading up on here today. Mine is a February of 2007 build. I'm expecting to break some, but I'll be prepared. Thanks for all info guys
