Maybe I should also get a used truck to haul my trailer with, and yet another one to go to the dump with. Seriously, whats the point in having a truck if I have to buy another one to do work with?

I have a snowway 7 foot plow on my 2005 f150 sxt and it is the best plow truck I have had and I have had 250s, dump trucks u name it. Dont listen to them there are many places that u can go that will sell and install snowway plows. Put one on and u will be fine. This will be my 3rd season plowing with it in chicago and the last to years have been very heavy.

well in tn where when we get snow, if ever lol, ive never seen anything samller than a 3/4 ton truck with a plow on the front of it, im sorry but unless it was a solid axle 1/2 i just see everything wearing out too fast, i would just get a beater cuz if it breaks down you wont loose your daily driver or your car hauler or whatever else you use your truck for

I will agree that a 3/4 ton would be the right truck if I wanted to do some serious commercial plowing, but it is overkill for the lighter duty plowing that I will be doing.

Actually, I see plenty of half ton trucks plowing around here, so don't assume you already know my answer to your question.

ok first off putting any weight on the front end of a truck that its not designed to carry is gonna wreck the suspension in no time, i mean no i dont plow but i know trucks, and there just too many thing that can break under a load like that under our trucks, and its not false advice its my opinion if he doesnt listen i dont give a **** so if you wanna plow with a truck like that go for it but i would much rather have a 3/4 ton

Play nice now...
I think the issue here is that the F150 cannot support a regular commercial plow that's got some ruggedness to it due to the front suspension it has. The only plow that an F150 can handle is what is termed a PERSONAL PLOW. It's a much lighter plow usually made from Fiberglas or Kevlar though there are steel setups but they have more a heavy gauge sheet metal for a blade. The F150 with a personal plow is good for plowing your own driveway only. I'm sure it would self destruct if you used it on the roadways. I think that's why the suggestion for a second truck.
