Default Please help - stumped???

I put my truck in 4hi last night just to keep things moving. Also went into 4lo for a bit. Dash lights work like they're supposed to. Ok so I try to put it back in 2hi and it won't go. 4hi light stays on. It'll go into 4lo and back to 4hi no problem but not 2hi. Tapped on tcase motor with a hammer, nothing. Truck stills puts power to all four wheels when switch is in 2hi (floored it on a gravel road).
What activates the dash light? The tcase motor or the iwe solenoid? If the tcase motor is shifting properly why do I still get power to all four wheels? Does the solenoid have to work before the tcase motor will shift??
Sorry for all the questions just need a bit of help here. Thanks in advance guys.

UPDATE: I got a new IWE solenoid and installed it. No difference. I have vacuum coming from the engine but no vac after the solenoid. So am I not getting power to the solenoid?? I checked all the fuses....

Sorry don't know what to do next...

UPDATE #2 I tested the wires going into the IWE solenoid and both of them are energized with the switch in either 2hi or 4hi??? So does this mean the tcase has to shift before the computer will ground the one side of the solenoid, closing it?? I also wiggled the tcase motor wires as well as unplugged and re-plugged it several times...still nada

Got a new tcase motor ordered, hopefully that solves my problems.

Any input is welcome!

Dumb question here but did you follow the procedure for shifting out of 4WD that is in the manual? It's not just shifting out of 4L into 2H. You have to stop completely, put the tranny into N then shift the xfer into 2H.

Its probably just slightly bound up. Common problem. If the method described above (BoiseF150) won't work, back up 50-100 feet and try it again. I've had several electric shift 4wd's over the years and I think every one of them has thrown this little fit at one time or another.

Well yes I have shifted it in every possible sequence I can think of, reverse, forward, stopped, rolling, yada yada. Nothing seems to be working...

Follow your vacuum lines down. There is a couple in line check valves that could be bad

Well to my way of thinking that shouldn't have anything to do with whether the tcase shifts or not...but I'm not getting vacuum out of the iwe solenoid in 2hi or 4x4. Plenty of vac coming from engine. Tested the solenoid with jumper wires and it works

there are a couple check valves in the vacuum lines that run from the IWE solenoid to the IWE's...follow the lines and you will find them on top of the motor...check to make sure they are not gummed up and are working properly.

There are no check valves between the IWE solenoid and IWEs. Think about it, a check valve is a one way vacuum valve. If there were check valves between the solenoid and IWEs, the vacuum would never be released. In addition, his main problem is that the transfer case is not shifting out of 4WD. I've given him suggestions on another thread.

Ok...the check valves are not between the solenoid and the IWE...my bad..they are up stream of the solenoid...
