We'll I'd suggest Ford copy GM but then they'd be bankrupt. I'll do some searching as it makes absolutely no sense how the vehicle could run lean unless the injectors can't keep up. The whole point of a MAF is to determine the amount and density of air going into the engine. The O2's also check to see how lean or rich a vehicle is running and then the ecm/pcm should increase the injector pulse width to make up for it. At least thats how a GM would work.

i agree, wouldnt the maf sense the extra flow and compensate?

May have to do with relocation of the MAF with aftermarket CAI systems. For example, the K&N kit relocates from the stock location near the throttle body, down toward the new air box.
It is a documented problem when both a "CAI" and tune are installed. Superchips has a free CAI Tune available via online update to prevent the lean condition.
