I just took the Pirelli's off my truck a few weeks ago and went with the Cooper Zeon LTZ's and I love them. My experience from the ATR's is that they wore faster than I expected and I really didnt have a problem with traction. Never really took them offroad since I have a 2WD. I wouldn't say I didn't like them but I probably wouldn't go back with Pirelli. I hear good things about the BFG's too, little pricey though

The traction is ok but they are the most vibrating tire I have ever seen. Also they wear extremely fast on gravel. Was going to go with the Coopers, but a guy got new michelins on his truck and his set of pirellis from the factory had more tread than mine and they were free so I figured I would put up with these crap *** tires till next summer and hope money is better then.

I bought a set of the Scorpion ATRs used with about 10K miles on them for $300 when moving from 18s to 20s. I've put another 35,000 miles on them and have no issues. The 'squares' come from a flat spotting tendency many have reported - especially in the frozen north, but I've never experienced it here down south (LA).

They're quiet, ride smooth and I've gotten very good wear out of them - I do rotate routinely and watch the pressure.

I'd love to find another good set of used ones to replace these with so if anyone is selling, let me know.

Pretty common with any medium/soft compound tire up here...well it was...seems the more modern tires don't do this. Odd that the pirelli's brought that symptom back.

I just replaced a set of ATR's with another set. I love them. I live in Southern Ontario where it get cold. I have no flat spot problems. Great traction but to help things along I put 300 lbs of sand in the back and my truck drives like it is on dry pavement.
See my thread on Tire Flaws I bet folks the are having trouble with these tires are being sold New but Old tires that have been sitting for a few years. If you bought them from Sears this could be the problem. Check the manufacturing date on them.

Ive got the ATR's on my truck and i hate them...noisy(relatively speaking), traction blows when the road is wet and so far, they're proving to have not so great tread life.

It will be the last set of Pirellis i put on a vehicle...

Are you two talking about the same tire?
