Default Performance Mod Questions

Well guys I was considering lifting my truck with new gears and 35's but I'm only working with a budget of about 3 grand and thats going to be past it. So what im thinking about doing is going the performance route. I'm one of those guys that is always on the run and busy and never home so I'll be selling my 450r to fund the project. I'm never home to ride it and I want something I can enjoy all the time. with that being said I have a few questions..

Heres what I am thinking:

Gryphon programmer
OBX Longtubes without cats
E-fans
Possibly under drive pullies.. (not sure about there affect on the charging system with my hids and subs...)
Also maybe an intake, probably just the Gotts mod to be cheap.

I have 265 tires right now and am thinking about maybe going to 305's with a leveling kit. maybe 285's. I dont want to go to big and lose all the power im trying to gain.

What do you guys think? the rest of the budget will probably go towards a trifold tonneau, cowl hood, and some minor body work and window tint. I should be under budget so I'm open to ideas for performance.

Truck is a 2005 supercab FX4 with 107k on it.

Anybody know how much power I'm going to be looking at with that combination? Also what is the true difference power wise between shorty and long tube headers?

What gear ratio did you plan on going with?
For headers, either go long tube or skip them. The shorty headers aren't worth it.

Sounds cool so far!!

I won't be changing the gears.. Not for now anyways.

I've been reading about headers all evening. I've always been told long tube or nothing but after looking at some dyno's and watching Summit racings video on headers I'm leaning towards shorty's. Long tubes seem to affect mid to upper rpm range and shorty's bottom end. And bottom end is what I want. However I am open on all ears.

Anyone have any numbers for horsepower or torque though? Got a couple bow tie boys running around with their mouth going 90 mph lol

Talk to this guy^ he can explain the whole header thing to you if needed. I read where he mentioned it adds to your low end torque.

Alright I'll do a search and see what I can come up with.

I personally have 35's currently and I will be simply re gearing the truck to 4.56 to get the performance feel back out of it.

I thought about it but I'm afraid of what the 4.56's will do to my rpms on the highway.

theres alot you can do with 3k. that was my initial budget when i first got mine (have spent much more than that to get to where she is now) but write everything out with prices and do what you can. If you aren't going to 35s then you don't need to regear. at 107k I would tackle the issues with the 5.4 motor; spark plugs, COPs, fuel filter, etc... good luck and you will get alot of great advice from people hear- I did.

I was on the fence between 4.10 and 4.56 but i think 4.56 will be a better gear for me. I am told it is basically setting me up to the equivalent of a 4.10 on the freeway. It may in fact affect my economy a pinch but at this point i dont think it is going to get worse than i am with the freeway flyers and I will at least have a lot less strain on the trans

Yeah the 3k is for right now. As of right now the plan is to address the plugs and fuel filter and see what's left after that. I'm hoping to get a programmer, two more matching wheels, some 35's and a lift.
