PATS - replace 2 piece key and fob with single Fusion key

You require two keys, it's written in your owners manual. I believe you can have up to 5, a remote starter bypass module on our truck counts as one as well. If you don't have two, you need to dealer to program any additional (and they'll usually wipe the missing). My Fusion came with one key, I used the remote starter bypass as the "second" to program another key as I didn't want to pay the dealer.
Note if your key has the "S" or the "SA" at the top of the key. I believe ours is "S" so either of those should work. The S key is a 40-bit, the SA is an 80-bit key. SA is backwards compatible, in fact I believe you can no longer purchase the "S" keys. You cannot however use an "S" key with a vehicle requiring an "SA" key (I believe 2011 and up - might even be 2009 and up): http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/11...nd-sa-key.html
On my Ford Fusion, I did the opposite... I went to a key without buttons because I added a remote start + alarm myself.

Hey,
Yes but it depends on the remote start module you're using. The older bypass modules basically just take +12V and ground then they transmit a signal as a key. Usually they're looped around the ignition so they basically act as another key. So what you do is, you get a blank basic key, copy it from you factory original from cheap. Put the 1 key in, turn it on for the few seconds (I can't recall exactly), take it out and power up the bypass module (limited time) and turn the non-chipped cut key on for the few seconds needed. Take the key out, then throw the third (new) cut key in to allow the computer to accept that key.
As for the "factory remote start", I know there was a factory one but to me it was really just a glorified aftermarket one that Ford redistributed at the time. I've seen some dealers "factory" ones use a double pulse LOCK to trigger the remote start which in that case you could really use any factory compatible FOB. If it was a module with a different remote, then no, you must use a remote compatible with the system.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Both of my 08's key fobs have broken eyelets and are no longer attached to my keychain. I'd like to go with a single key/fob solution. Does anyone have experience with a key like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-2011-20...k:25:pf:0#rwid . Or maybe this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Remote-Key-...S!-1:rk:2:pf:0 I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I did the opposite... I went from the key you want to a basic. Check for the letters "SA" on your key. That key should work for yours if it matches.

I looked @ these some time ago (don't know for sure if they will work) In theory they should.....& of course the the trunk button will not!!
I can tell you if you use the other buttons as much as I do they will definitly wear out faster than the separate lock/unlock fobs...
I just wonder if that same key is available without the trunk lock...It should be??
I have used the older Lock/unlock/panic fobs on my 2011/2012/2013 trks ....They just work so smooooth & forever!!!
