Default Passenger side lower control arm mount help

Not my truck but a buddies 08 XLT 4X4. Sent me this picture today and was wondering if welding the frame is sufficient enough for repair.
Any other suggestions if it isn't?

I would think a good welder could fix that. I mean is it "proper" probably not, but I'm surprised that even happened. It's not like it's rusty rusty

Would think someone could repair it with some bracing / gussets to beef up the area.
Question remains how and why it happened.

I agree and have not seen a break like that before. The salted roads around the Chicago area don't help but my gosh..
Thanks for the reply

It just doesn't look like rust got the best of it. It's still all there and only has surface rust. Looks like someone thought they had a raptor

I haven't asked him but I know he drives it like he stole it LOL
He said he was going to replace front end suspension parts and saw that.
