I also tried the V-MAX oil addative today, with my oil change I did switch to 10-30 oil (mobile full sythetic) and a trusty fram filter we'll see how it go's in 3000 miles

thats funny i just did mine last weekend thrid of stealership cost. Now its time to sell at least thats what ford techs said, reliable source. This phaser and tenisoner problem is a design flaw ford corp wont listen to their dealer techs or respond to there EDSR's. THERE is not enough oil pressure at top of motor to stop scoring on phasers then go bad and u will be stuck doing this again. i know this is my second time around with this wauranty once then me once. my 05 f150 only has 65000 miles on it. THings u can do to pro long phaser wear and tear do not change oil every 5 to 8k this is only said for coustmer cost advertising. go 3 to 4k and only use synthetic oil. AND DO NOT USE 5w 20 OIL IS TO THIN FOR THIS ENGINE. i know its reccomend but its wrong. winter 5w 30 summer 10w 30 u might lose 1 to 2 mpg but really depends on your driving. I know cap says 5w 20 but techs tell friends to run 10w 30.
Maybe I'm just really lucky, but my 05 has 115k miles, runs good, and is all original. It has a bit of a diesely sound, but not bad. Agree on the religious oil change frequency, mine was well maintained before I got it, and I have it serviced every 3-4k miles now. I run 5w-20 motorcraft oil, last truck I put full synthetic in spun a cam bearing with less than 100k.......no it wasn't a ford.

Ditch the fram man......it's known as the orange can of death. It'll kill the top end of your engine. get a purolator, motorcraft, mobil one.....anything but fram. seriously.
