Parking Brake Dash Light Flashes On & Off
#11
I have the same issue. The light came on and off for a while then finally stayed on. I have not done any diagnosing or changing of the switch. Fluid level looked good when i checked it. Ill figure it out when I put my truck back together.
Until then...Help us!

I'm bringing back an old thread because I'm having this same issue. I posted on here and all I got back was "check your brake fluid.." Brake fluid is full, if its not the e-brake switch on the pedal, what else could it be?

I had Ford look at it when I was getting my state inspection. They traced it back to the cluster in the dash behind the instrument panel. The replacment part was around $300 to replace. They said truck would pass inspection with the light on, so I left it alone....it's on pretty much all the time now.
I did replace the switch on the parking brake...didn't do anything.
SOunds like this might be some what of a common problem???

Possible fix
I have a 2007 F-150 and my brake light started blinking like others in this post. I found a possible fix, it seems the cluster that someone paid$300 to fix is nothing more than a loose plug. Here's the link
Hope it helps.

I removed my cluster to replace the bulb that illuminates the odometer. After putting back together, I immediately started having the intermittent brake light issues. I’m sure it is the plug/connection issue referenced in last post and video link. So far I’ve just been putting up with it, but will eventually try checking on it shimming the plug connection.

I just fixed this on mine. The switch and everything were fine. The Cluster itself had something wrong but the damage wasn't visible. I was able to get the brake light to turn off and on by removing the dash pieces covering the cluster(4 screws or so) and then just wiggling the plug. I got a new cluster and everything is fine.
I tried cleaning the plug and putting a light coating of socket grease but that didn't work. The previous owner had removed the cluster and disassembled it to put a screw in the speaker because he had gotten paint in the seat belt and it didn't function that well and he apparently didn't want to clean it.(Can't make this stuff up) If I wedged a piece of cardboard against the cluster in a few spots, I could get the brake light to go off but it caused other lights to go on and the cluster had other issues. A new cluster was around $50 on eBay. I could also get it to go off by slapping the dash sometimes.
I also had the door ajar light. It was causing my lights to turn on randomly through the night and killing my battery.
I have a 2004 STX Supercab 4x4.
