Default Painted Mirror Caps Today!

I decided I had enough of the faded ugly mirrors... So I got some plasti dip and some white krylon fusion for plastic and clear coat. I used the plasti dip to get a new nice black finish across the whole surface. Then taped off the top of the cap and sprayed 3 coats of the white krylon and then 5 coats of clear coat and they turned out amazing.

That looks great! That's exactly what I want to do to my mirrors as well. We even have the same color schemes on our trucks! How exactly did you tape off your mirrors for the plasti dipping?

There's a groove in the middle of the mirror and I taped along it. I suggest doing the paint an clear part first because it I guess "cures" a lot faster than the plasti dip. I actually did it the other way around on my first try and it just pulled up the dip. So I suggest doing paint then dip.

Ok thanks for the advice! Do you think it would be easier to remove the mirrors or did you leave them on the truck?

I took them off te truck and I took them apart. But you could leave them on the truck. Only reason I took them off was so I could redo the faded black textured finish. All you have to do to get just the cap off:

Pop off the three tabs holding the glass on and remove the glass. Then they're are four T20 screws holding the cap on and then just pull off the cap!

You should! I've loved it ever since I did it... Too bad I won't get to enjoy it for very long since I just ordered tow mirrors.

I love the look of PTM mirror caps! I did my tow mirrors a few weeks ago with krylon paints.
