Dealer admits it had a CEL when they got it. CEL is a smog fail, which is their responsibility. I would simply tell them to 1) fix it. 2) buy it back 3) plan on having a conversation with the State Bureau of Automotive Repair. Its not the only truck out there, don't get too fixated on saving it yourself. They bought a problem child, it shouldn't be your problem. My personal opinion.
