Default Larger tires

Ok I've been searching and reading and I'm going nuts not really finding what I need. I want to increase to a larger tire but I'm not sure what to do now. If I go to a 285/70/17 will I run into problems with my gearing on my 4x4? I have a k&n, cherry bomb exhaust, edge programmer converted to the gryphon, and a leveling kit. I'm not to concerned about power loss or speedo since I have the programmer. Plus I've found some super swamper irok nd's for like $165 each. Anyone ever use them?

That tire size will fit just fine. I had those on my 06 4.6L 4x4 even before i leveled it. Its a good looking size.

You will feel a slight decrease in power but thats all. I had 285/70r17 on my 06 4.6l with 3.55 gears and pulled my big boat and trailer with it through Alberta's mountains and had no trouble. I now hae 325/70r17 which is a 35" tire and I really feel power loss but for the 285/70r17 you will be fine.

I have used that size on my 07, they work/look good but with a 2"-2.5" level they look small. I have larger tires now.

I had that size on my 05 for two years with no problems. I didn't even run a tuner with them.

Size will work fine. They are about 1.5" taller than stock 255/70-17. Not much wider either.

The only thing you will want to do is have your speedometer recalibrated for the proper circumference. Dealership can do it, or if you have an Edge Evolution or PHP Gryphon you can do it yourself with the help of a GPS.

I used super swamper iroks on an old bronco I had. They suck on the street and they are loud as hell.. They are great if you keep them off the street and in the mud.. Search CL for used tires if your looking to save money.. If you have good luck you might just find a really good set with a lot of life in them..
