Default P0430 still after new cat

I know this has been discussed all over but I still don't have a firm answer. First off I have an 07 5.4 with 76,000 miles. Recently a cel came on and it reads a p0430 bank 2(drivers side) catalyst below threshold. I took It in to ford as it is under the 8yr/80,000 mile emissions warranty. I got it back on Monday and within 25 mile the cel came back on with the same code. All the possible causes have been covered. The air filter in new, the maf sensor is good, there are no miss fires, and the 02 sensors are functioning in spec. Ford will charge me there $105/hr fee just to look at it again and if it falls under the emissions warranty the service is free. I know if there was another issue they would have been all over it trying to get me to pay for it. That leads me to believe they didn't find anything. My dilemma is how to move forward. 02 sensors are recommended at 80,000 but are damn expensive to just throw at the truck hoping they solve it. Everything on bank 2 has been ruled out or replaced(new cat). Anyone have any clue?

Thanks

One last thing. My truck get **** gas mileage. It gets 10.8 on highway or town. When the light came back on today I ran thru the info and it says im getting 4.8 on the highway. I love this truck but am starting to FN hate it. I just bought a new Taurus sho last week and with the twin turbo awd It makes ths thing a gas guzzling turd.

have you checked you egr? sometimes when it clogs, it will cause codes to come up under your exhaust and emissions field, you could check that or tht when you put the new cat on, it has a different backpressure set up as opposed to the factory

Thanks for the help but I don't think the 5.4l has an egr valve.

Ya no egr on the 5.4. I put 2 new 02 sensors on the drivers side and eraserd the cel tonite. I drove it around town this evening putting about 20 miles on so far and the message center is reading 12mpg and no cel yet. Hopefully this will take care of it. I am going to do the other 2 sensors and plugs as soon as I get this other issue worked out. Ill update as I get results.

I have put about 150 miles on my truck in the last couple days. I even pulled my 18' car trailer around on sunday with no issues, and no CEL. Hope this is over finally.

Its nice to see you kept us posted with your solution. Glad the O2's worked out for you.
I'd still go ahead and change the other 02's and plugs as well. Maybe run a good injector cleaner and SeaFoam treatment as well too.

I plan to do all of the above. I was just waiting to see what was going to happen with the repairs done already. I was about to trade it in on a new ecoboost. My wife just picked up a Taurus SHO and now I want an ecoboost. I love everything about the car.

I get this CEL every once in a while but I figured it was from the magnaflow 94106 cats that I'm running.
Truck is at 86k miles.

Would it be worth changing out the O2 sensors?
