When I enter my vehicle info on the Crutchfield website is says that this PIE FRD04-DVD will not work? Do you think it will? Thanks!

Did you ever get this resolved? Want to upgrade head unit but don't want to lose the DVD for my son. I really like the fact he can use the headphones and I can listen to something else, but the cd part of my factory radio is broken so I'd like to upgrade.

Anyone bother emailing Crutchfield and asking? They do a lot of research and I'm sure this isnt the first time this has been brought up to them.

I am dredging this post up again cause I have the same question and there is NO clear answer anywhere on the net for 2006 f150. From what I am reading the F150 for 2004 - 2008 is "CAN-BUS" and so is the "2006 Mark LT", which the FRD04-DVD adapter lists the Lincoln but does not list the ford. So if it works on the lincoln why not the ford???? It appears that the mfr of this adapter does not have listed all the applicable vehicles, but I am not willing to buy it to find out it does not work.

Also, I am looking at adapter PAC #C2R-FRD1 and it seems the same thing. works on CAN-BUS, but F150 not listed. It appears this adapter serves all the inputs and outputs on the factory harness.

I have a Rear Seat Ent system factory and don't want to lose it when installing aftermarket Head unit.

Has anyone used either of the above mentioned adapters on a 2004 - 2008 F150?

This truely has been the car stereo install from hell. I tried the Axxess AFDI-RSE-01. Can-bus and That does not work. I tried the Metra adapter 70-5520AV adapter (non can-bus) and that is not even close. I did confirm that the factory rear seat entertainment system on the 2006 IS WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT a Can-Bus controlled system from the factory head unit. It is funny, I called PAC company that sells adapter for systems and talked to their head technical guy and he swore on his mothers grave that it was NOT a Can-Bus system and I told him I have the wiring diagram for my specific truck and the wires are labled "can-bus" in the harness that goes to the DVD overhead system. He said that was a Ford mistake. What an idiot. My last resort is trying a PIE FRD04-DVD adapter. I read (in a couple places) that it will work for my truck on forums. On the box it lists the 2006 Lincoln LT as a applicable vehicle, but doesnt list the F150. Isnt that the same truck?

The problem. I can't find one of these to buy. There was one on Ebay just this week that I won for a great price, I paid for it, then a day later the guy says sorry it was water damaged and he cant ship it. He did give me my money back...wow....what a bummer. At this point I am ready to sell my overhead factory DVD system and just go with aftermarket. It is grey and has the slide system with lights and has 2 compartments. it essentially runs all the way from front to back. It is perfect...Any takers? Anyone got any ideas on this install? But may try to find the PIE adapter before I sell it.
