Default Overhead Console DVD with Pioneer Head Unit

I replaced my factory head unit with a Pioneer Touchscreen Navi unit. The problem I need solved is how can I get my factory overhead DVD player to work. If it has to work independently of the pioneer and require that you use headphones, that is fine. The overhead DVD still has power and a DVD will load but obviously I get no video on the flip down screen. My pioneer plays DVDs but i need the overhead console DVD to play for the kids. Suggestions???

You might need to pull it down, and check the back for some audio and video pre outs.. If it has them you can get pioneer headunit to use it as a secondary display.

Are you trying to get dual use or are you looking for it to play DVDs for the kiddies while you listen to another source (iPod/radio/etc) ?

I don't care about the dual use, I just want it to work so the kiddos can watch a DVD.

What exactly will the harness accomplish? It won't bother me if its not dual use, I just want the overhead unit to work so that the kiddos can watch movies. Right now it powers up and will take and eject a DVD, but no video or audio????

Overview: The PIE FRD04-DVD Ford OEM DVD Keeper Interface allows you to retain use of your OEM Ford/Lincoln/Mercury "Can-Bus" DVD player when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit in select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles. In these vehicles, the factory DVD player will not turn on and/or some DVD control functions are lost when the factory radio is removed. The FRD-4-DVD provides the factory DVD with the necessary information that is normally provided by the factory radio in order to maintain its use and control functions. Using the FRD-4-DVD, the audio signal from the factory DVD is provided through a set of RCA connectors, for applications where the aftermarket radio being installed has an available auxiliary input port. The FRD04-DVD also features built-in audio adjustment circuitry with an output level of up to 2 volts RMS, allowing the installer to match the audio level of the factory DVD to the audio level of the AM, FM or CD modes of the aftermarket radio.
